Munnar has become a destination for all seasons. However, the tourist season in Munnar, like all other popular tourist destinations in Kerala, starts in August and ends in March.  Nevertheless, unlike other destinations, Munnar has a summer season from April to May, when crowds arrive in this beautiful season to escape the heat.  In the Munnar plains, it is less frequented from June to July during the monsoon.

1. TATA Tea Museum

The Tata Tea Museum is located on the Nallathanni estate. The museum has photographs and curiosities that trace the evolution and growth of the tea plantations in Munnar, from the tea tree to automated tea processing factories.  The museum is an appropriate tribute to the efforts of the first planters to transform one of the most popular hill stations and the epicenter of the tea trade in Kerala. Entry ticket to the museum is Rs 75 per person and you can enjoy a  Free cardamom tea with the Munnar tea history demo.

2. Cheeyapara Falls

The Cheeyappara waterfalls are en route to Munnar after Neriamangalam and before Adimali and flow in seven stages offering a magnificent view from the road near the second stage from below.  Valara is another waterfall near Cheeyapara and dense natural tropical forests surrounds it.  Indeed, it is also a good place to enjoy a break and hot tea before reaching Munnar.

Note: the park closes from February to March for about 30 to 45 days and tourists are not allowed to enter.  The park opens at 7:00 and closes at 18:00. There is no online ticketing service and long queues are expected on holidays and weekends.

It was a result of the bilateral agreement between India and the Swiss government in 1963.  The sight of the cattle that graze freely among the hills of the large farm is a unique experience that every tourist can live in his life.  The Kerala Livestock Development and Milk Marketing Committee manage the Swiss Indo Dairy Farm or Livestock Project.
